Community Pumpkin Carving Contest
Many
years ago, villagers carved gourds, turnips and pumpkins each Hallows
Eve to protect their homes from wandering spirits. Help keep the
tradition alive and Join Kittery Recreation and Night Terrors Haunted
Walk as we see how many pumpkins we can carve to brighten the dark
nights of Halloween. All you have to do is get yourself a pumpkin and
then carve - be creative! The internet can provide some great ideas if
you are stuck. Finished pumpkins should be dropped off on the porch at
10 Bridge Street, home of Night Terrors Haunted Walk, any time on
October 26 & 27. Make sure you put your name and phone number on the
pumpkin with a water proof marker and follow the posted drop-off
directions. Everyone that participates will receive a ribbon. Prizes
will be awarded to the top youth and adults in the following categories:
Pick of the Patch; Scariest and Most Creative. Pumpkins will be judged
and then on display in “Pumpkin Hallow” at Night Terrors Haunted Walk
starting at 6:30pm October 29-31. Admission is open to everyone with a
voluntary donation. If the Walk is too scary for you, request a
scare-free tour during regular hours or come to a day light walk through
5-6pm on October 30 to bypass the scares. Please note that once
submitted all pumpkins become the property of Night Terrors Haunted Walk
and will not be returned.
